Brandon Paul: “Just wanted to make an impact”

Brandon Paul arrived in Anadolu Efes earlier this month to replace Bryce Cotton and it didn’t take very long for him to show why the Turkish team chose to sign him.

In just the second EuroLeague game of his career, the American guard was a winning factor, dropping 19 points and stealing the ball five times, to help his squad take an important road victory over Galatasaray.

“I felt good. I just wanted to come out and make an impact on both ends of the floor,” Paul said to Eurohoops about his performance. “Sometimes a game might not go so well offensively so I also wanted to make an impact on the defensive end.”

Efes was a bit sloppy during the first half of that match but recovered in a stylish manner after the return from the locker rooms. “We picked up our pace. We were kinda ‘nauseous’ early in the game and we needed to play with a a sense of urgency. When we started doing that it gave us a better chance to stay in the game.”

What does Paul think about the club he is now a part of? “This is a really professional organization. All the guys here want to win. I see a winning culture in general so I’m happy to be a part of it. It makes me excited and keeps me going.”

“There’s good chemistry within the team as well. The guys aren’t only good players but also fun to be around. When you get along with your teammates it makes everything better.”
