Fantasy: Can Olympiacos stop Langford?

By Dimitris Mitratzas  / info@eurohoops.net

Keith Langford is by far the best scorer and the one with the highest ranking in this year’s EuroLeague, but lately he’s been declining. Will Olympiacos stop him?

The American scorer is going through a down period in the last three games, his performance levels dropping considerably. In the first 17 rounds he had a 24,4 ranking with high productivity and pretty good accuracy rates. However, in the games against Darussafaka, Fenerbahce and Maccabi he had an average ranking of 6, with 4-for-23 in two-point shooting and 6-for-21 in three-point shooting, dropping his price considerably in fantasy as well.

Langford’s next game is against Olympiacos, the team that forces its opponents to the lowest overall ranking per game (only 74,1). In the game of the first round in fact, he scored 25 points (most of them in the final, irrelevant minutes of the game), but with 10-for-23 shots and 0 assists as well as 0 steals (his only game this season with these stats), he was left with a ranking of 15.

Is it worth taking the risk with Langford this week since his price dropped to 95,2 credits? The Eurohoops fantasy tool doesn’t even include him on the list of the most reliable players because of the fluctuations in his performance in recent games.

Before we go ahead with the analysis of this round, take a look at the most reliable players as they emerge from the EuroLeague fantasy tool and make the changes to your team more… wisely.

Going back to Langford, the Eurohoops team is not going to take the risk but will try to invest in big men, particularly in view of Ekpe Udoh’s return to action. Aside from Langford, Jan Vesely has got to go too, because even though he has been in excellent condition for as long as Udoh was out, his chances now for a big game against CSKA are reduced.

The third who’s going to go is Unics’ Art Parakhouski, who missed the previous game at the last minute. The Belarusian center is going to face Olympiacos, the best team at defending the paint, so it’s better to turn elsewhere.

Like, for example, Ekpe Udoh who has made a dynamic return in the Turkish championship with Fenerbahce. Besides, with a total of 211,1 credits available, at least two very expensive selections are possible.

The second of those is going to be Nicolo Melli, who is coming off the mediocre game against Olympiacos, but against Maccabi he has the chance to have another game with scoring, creation and rebounds.

There are many candidates for the last position in the backcourt, but it seems that Krunoslav Simon is in such demonic form that it would be a shame if he didn’t return to our team. Milan’s Croatian forward has a ranking of 22,2 in the last four games and he’s showing remarkable consistency. And in the game against Darussafaka he can continue with his streak…

Enjoy fantasy!
