All FIBA competitions are suspended and the Basketball Champions League will chart its course in hopes to complete the season on Monday.

The Basketball Champions League Board will have a meeting on Monday via teleconference to access the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic and decide its further course of action.

In theory, the BCL hopes that the season will end, and the truth is that even under the current format, two weeks of action with slight modifications are more than enough. The only games left are two for the playoffs, the quarterfinals – which can be slimmed down from the best-of-three format if needed – and the Final Four.

However, the BCL must also take into consideration not only the European countries’ decisions on the coronavirus safety measures but also the decisions of local leagues, which in some cases have already decided to cancel their seasons, and their clubs are releasing the players. The BCL, like everyone, will have to adapt, and of course, if the Olympic Games are postponed, then there will be enough time for the season to finish.

At this point, no final decision will be produced, something that’s expected probably in the next month.
