Serbian forward/center Stevan Jelovac had a stroke, AEK announced on Tuesday. He is in stable but serious condition, as noted in the latest update on his health.

Jelovac, 32, was rushed to a nearby hospital, Μetropolitan General, during the team practice on Sunday. He fainted while training individually looking to recover and get back on track after the ankle injury forcing him to the sidelines the last couple of weeks.

Players and coaching staff held Jelovac in their thoughts aiming to secure the win over VEF Riga for him in the latest BCL Monday “Game of the Week”, yesterday at AEK Ano Liosia Arena. The team guided by Greek tactician Stefanos Dedas was successful in accomplishing the task and improved to 1-3 in Group D with two more games remaining but did not earn the tiebreaker advantage over the Latvian outlet. Domestically, AEK carries a 3-4 W-L tally.

Jelovac joined the Greek team prior to the 2021-22 season. He had 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 0.7 steals per game between the Basketball Champions League and Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League through seven appearances before heading to the injury list.

He had moved on from his come country, Serbia, back in 2010. Prior to making his way to the Queen and Greece, he displayed his talents in Turkey, Germany, Russia, Spain, Lithuania, Italy, and Japan. In addition, at the international level, he earned nine caps with the Serbia senior national team during the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
