AS Monaco big man Yoan Makoundou joined the French national team in the training camp to help in practices ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the absence of sidelined center Mathias Lessort.

Lessort has been facing a persistent ankle issue and hasn’t been able to participate in team practices. The new Panathinaikos player traveled to Athens a couple of days ago to undergo medical tests for the new season.

Makoundou, 23, has been a member of the French national team youth squads. He won the bronze medal with Les Bleus in the 2019 FIBA U19 World Championship.
