Italy beat Greece 74 – 70 in the last game of the 2023 Akropolis Tournament. This was the fourth win over four preparation games for the Italian side ahead of the FIBA World Cup.

It was mostly a defense-dominant game, as both teams struggled with their shooting. Simone Fontecchio led Italy with 17 points while Nicolo Melli provided 13 points. Marco Spissu had 11 points including a key 3-pointer down the stretch and the two free throws that secured Italy’s win.

As Greece was trying to make a comeback from down 67 – 54, Spissu scored Italy’s first basket with a triple from downtown.
