Vucevic leads Montenegro past Philippines in final game before World Cup

In the last preparatory game ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Nikola Vucevic guided Montenegro to a 102-87 victory over the Philippines, contributing 18 points and nine rebounds.

Bojan Dubljevic followed the lead of the Chicago Bulls’ big man with 16 points, while naturalized player Kendrick Perry scored 13 points in the first half and finished with 15 overall.

Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson led Gilas Pilipinas with 27 points and five rebounds, but also committed eight turnovers. Big man June Mar Fajardo finished with 19 points, and Dwight Ramos with 13.

In the upcoming World Cup’s group stage, Montenegro will face Egypt, Mexico, and Lithuania. As for the hosts of the four groups in the first stage, the Philippines will compete against Angola, Dominican Republic, and Italy for the top two spots in Group A.
