After reaching the 2024 Basketball Champions League Final with Lenovo Tenerife — and finishing as the BCL’s top scorer — Kyle Guy surprisingly announced his retirement and a transition into coaching.
He joined the University of Virginia staff as an assistant, but fast-forward to the autumn of 2025, and Guy is back on the court. His outstanding NBA G League performances have now earned him a call-up to the USA national team for the November 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
The call came shortly after he delivered 32 points and 10 assists, shooting 8/14 from three, in the Noblesville Boom’s loss to the Iowa Wolves. That performance, along with his consistent production this season, secured his place on the 12-man roster set to face Nicaragua — first in Managua and then in College Park, Georgia.
Guy is joined on the roster by several familiar names, including former NBA and AEK Athens guard Brandon Knight and ex–Crvena zvezda guard Javonte Smart.
As for Guy, the former Joventut, Panathinaikos, and Tenerife standout is averaging 22.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.7 rebounds through six G League appearances with the Boom, the Indiana Pacers’ affiliate. He was briefly on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers before moving to the Noblesville.
