USA sets a new Americas Qualifiers record with 123 points

A new FIBA World Cup Qualifiers scoring record in the Americas and third highest globally by the United States behind a 123-93 victory against Nicaragua in Gateway Center Arena on Monday. Besides breaking the specific record set by Brazil with 119 points against Colombia in February 28, 2022, the offense fell shy of New Zealand putting up 133 and 124 points in two Asia Qualifiers outings opposite Hong Kong.

On the way to 2-0 in Group A of the Americas in the World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, MarJon Beauchamp stood out with 26 points. Kyle Guy followed with 17 points and Brandon Knight posted a 16-point, 12-assist double-double.

Elsewhere in Group A, Mexico overcame a 22-point effort by Andres Feliz and matched the Dominican Republic at 1-1 with a road win, 89-88.

From the Dominican guard of Real Madrid to club teammate Gabriel Deck, Argentina moved to 2-0 in Group D with the 30-year-old forward scoring a game-high 18 points in a lopsided win, 105-49, over Cuba.

In Group B, Canada and Jamaica improved to 2-0 behind a 94-88 home win versus the Bahamas and a 97-92 triumph opposite Puerto Rico on the road, respectively.

Opening Gameday 2 on Sunday, Brazil and Uruguay reached 2-0 in their respective groups with a 78-62 win over Chile and 84-82 win over Panama.
