According to SDNA, the Panathinaikos star has received an offer to become Qatar’s naturalized player as part of a long-term project leading up to the 2027 FIBA World Cup, which will be hosted by the Gulf nation.

The proposed agreement reportedly spans five years and is worth around €1.5 million per year, with payments tied to Nunn’s participation in international competitions.

The centerpiece of the project is the 2027 World Cup, set to be held in Qatar, but the American guard could potentially make his debut for the national team as early as this year.

Qatar is expected to participate in the World Cup Qualifiers and could also compete at the Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, although the event’s status remains uncertain due to tensions in the Middle East.

The deal is said to include a “no play, no pay” clause, meaning Nunn would only receive compensation for tournaments in which he actually participates.

Panathinaikos has reportedly been informed of the process from the beginning, while negotiations are now believed to be in their final stages.

This is not the first time a national federation has tried to naturalize Nunn. In the past, Turkey explored the possibility of adding the American guard to its national team pool under head coach Ergin Ataman.
