The upcoming FIBA window is generating intense anticipation as national federations lock in their rosters for the crucial resumption of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

Leading Group H of the European Qualifiers with three wins in four games, Slovenia will face its next challenges without its global superstar, Luka Doncic. The Los Angeles Lakers maestro is officially missing from the lineup shared by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia, KZS, on Wednesday due to family reasons, leaving a massive void in the backcourt. To compensate for his absence, head coach Aleksander Sekulic welcomes back the vital veteran experience of Edo Muric and Vlatko Cancar. They will be heavily relied upon alongside established squad anchors Klemen Prepelic, Alen Omic, and Ziga Samar to maintain the team’s top spot against Estonia and Sweden.

Meanwhile, Italy is tipping off its summer preparations under head coach Luca Banchi with a competitive training camp in Rome. The Azzurri’s initial squad, released on Wednesday by the Italian Basketball Federation, FIP, features Matteo Spagnolo and Gabriele Procida, while Simone Fontecchio is expected to join the squad for the August window. Other players for that later window stretch to Nico Mannion, Stefano Tonut, Diego Flaccadori, Giampaolo Ricci, and Darius Thompson.

Finland has launched an incredibly ambitious summer program by inviting a massive pool of talent to its traditional open gym camp, with 42 players confirmed by Basketball Finland on Tuesday. Head coach Lassi Tuovi’s squad is headlined by the country’s undisputed superstar, Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz. The NBA standout will lead a formidable core that includes Mikael Jantunen, Sasu Salin, Alexander Madsen, Edon Maxhuni, and Elias Valtonen.
