The opening round of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Africa Qualifiers concluded on Sunday, shaping the matchups for the decisive final stage.
Nigeria, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, and Senegal all secured comfortable victories, while Egypt needed overtime to outlast Uganda 77–70. Cameroon edged past South Sudan 78–74, and Angola defeated Mali 88–74 behind 22 points apiece from Selton Miguel and Childe Dundao.
The top three nations from each opening group advanced, carrying over their records into two newly formed brackets.

This next phase will determine the five African representatives heading to Qatar next summer.
