Italy gets Croatia into trouble – World Cup European Qualifiers Day 2 Sunday Recap

In the most awaited game of the day, Spain defeated Slovenia in a fun-to-watch game (92-84). Quino Colom took care of the business with 25 points and 9 assists for the winners while Sergi Vidal added 21. Kremen Prepelic led the reigning European champions with 27 points and Gasper Vidmar helped with 24 points.

Turkey is the only unbeaten team in Group B with its win on the road (67-60) with a great fourth quarter. Ukraine has now a 1-1 record despite Sergii Gladyr’s 20 points for the hosts. Sertac Sanli and Tolga Gecim combined for 27 points for the visitors.

Latvia registered its first victory with a home win over Sweden (82-73). Zanis Peiners with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Anzejs Pasecniks with 15 and 6 had an impressive performance for the winners.

Lithuania got it easy in Klaipeda as they beat Poland 75-55. A 16-0 run starting the second quarter gave the hosts the lead and they never let it go. Eimantas Bendzius was the star of the game after ending with 18 points for Lithuania. Lukasz Koszarek led the guests with 12 points.

Croatia remains winless in Group D after being defeated in Zagreb. Italy took the victory (80-64) with Amedeo Della Valle leading the guests. The shooting guard finished with 25 points and led all scorers. Darko Planinic double-double (20+10) wasn’t enough for Croatia.
