The Italian national team doesn’t expect to have Gallinari in September

According to a report by “La Gazzetta dello Sport” Danilo Gallinari is not expected to play in September with the Italian national team.

Practically that means he will be available for his national team only in the FIBA World Cup if the Italians qualify. Two days ago, Gallinari was quoted by the same newspaper saying that he wishes to play in September but he had to convince the Clippers to let him.

However, Meo Sacchetti, the head coach of Italian NT, said the opposite: “I spoke with Danilo. He told me that he couldn’t play during the summer because of his hand injury and that in September he had to return to the Clippers”.

Gallinari missed Eurobasket 2017 due to his infamous punch on Joti Kok. Since then, his relationship with the team and the Italian federation seems to have changed drastically.
