Rudy Gobert wants to do something great in China and via interview to FIBA revisited the 2019 FIBA World Cup underlining that it always has been his dream to win the Olympic gold medal or the World Cup with France. “You don’t go out there just to play. You are going out there to try and win the highest reward” he pointed out.

“It’s always been a dream to win either the Olympic gold medal or the World Cup. It’s always been a dream. It still is!” the Utah Jazz center said on his goals with the French National Team and added: “We know it’s hard, but that’s our goal, that’s what we want to aim for.”

The NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 also looked back on his previous FIBA World Cup experience focusing on the Quarterfinals victory against Spain. “For me, the key moment was the World Cup when we beat Spain at home in the Quarterfinals. We were the underdogs, we knew they had a full team, they were at home, and they hadn’t lost one game. And we barely made it to the Quarterfinals. But we beat them at home. For me, in my young career, that was the turning point. The key moment. Great feeling.”

This time around, France will tip off facing Germany on September 1st and will go on with matches versus Jordan and the Dominican Republic at Shenzhen, China. “You go out there to do your best to defend your colors. It’s a lot of pride. It’s always fun, you give everything what you got.” he mentioned.
