Brazil, Philippines, Tunisia, Iran pick up friendly wins

Second straight home win for Brazil over Uruguay. Following the recent victory at Anapolis, Aco Petrovic’s side defeated their fellow South Americans, 103-82, at Belem on Saturday with Marcelinho Huertas and Anderson Varejao taking part in the action after missing the first match of the two-game series.

At Malaga, the Philippines wrapped up its outing in Spain with three wins in four games. The Gilas beat the Ivory Coast, 73-63, before returning to Manila. Robert Bolick posted a team-high 19 points, Andray Blatche added 18 points and 18 rebounds in the final game at Spain.

Another World Cup participant, Iran, defeated Hungary, 90-82 at Heraklion. Mohammad Jamshidi poured a game-high 28 points, tallied 8 rebounds and 5 assists as well. Mehran Shahintab’s side is set to face Greece in the final day of the three-team friendly tournament.

Tunisia and Jordan furthered World Cup preparations in Prague with the former securing a 80-68. The three-day tournament at the Czech Republic will conclude with the hosts going against Jordan and Poland battling Tunisia on Sunday.
