Canada waiting for Cory Joseph to join the World Cup squad

Team USA hasn’t been the only one having to deal with a big number of withdrawals from the 2019 FIBA World Cup as Canada has been dealing with it as well.

Out of 17 NBA players – the most Canada has ever had and the most NBA players ever from any country other than the US – only two are still on the roster. Kem Birch has been with the team while Cory Joseph is yet to join the squad.

Joseph has been uncertain about joining Canada due to all the absences but the national team associate head coach in Gordie Herbert noted that he is expected to come: “We expect him to join the group at some time. It’s uncertain at this time”, he told Olgun Uluc.

It should also be noted that Joseph hasn’t traveled to Perth yet where Canada is set to play two preparation games against Australia, first of which on Friday (16/8).
