Bolomboy ruled out for Russia; World Cup roster trimmed to 15 players

CSKA Moscow and Russian national team center Joel Bolomboy will miss the 2019 World Cup, the Russian Basketball Federation announced.

Bolomboy has been struggling with some problems on his foot that prevented him from practicing and playing in the preparation games for the World Cup. It was decided that he won’t travel with the rest of the squad to China.

Alexey Shved, Dmitry Khvostov, Timofey Mozgov and Dmitry Kulagin are also out for Russia.

The roster of the Russian national team now features 15 players; Evgeny Baburin, Vitaly Fridzon, Mikhail Kulagin, Grigory Motovilov, Alexander Platunov, Andrey Sopin, SemenAntonov, Andrei Vorontsevich, Nikita Kurbanov, Nikita Balashov, Andrey Zubkov, Sergey Karasev, Evgeny Valiev, Artem Zabelin and Vladimir Ivlev.

Russia coach Sergei Bazarevich will decide on the 12-man World Cup roster following the preparation games of his team in Nigbo (August 26 – 28). Russia will face Argentina and Spain in the tournament.
