Coach Ronen Ginzburg led the Czech Republic squad to a historic feat as they made it to the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals. When asked how they did it, the coach has a simple answer:

“I repeat it all the time. We have a big heart in this team and we show it every game, even today. Even when we were down 15, we tried to come back, we got back to seven points. This is the main thing. First of all, big heart and team chemistry between the players. This brought us here, a big surprise for everybody that we made it to the quarterfinals but you know, when you’re there, you want to do more”, he said at the press conference.

Patrik Auda attended as well and talked about basketball in his country which, because of their success, get far more recognition: “Basketball is not the number one sport in the Czech Republic but as we’ve seen in our country over the last year during our qualification for the World Cup and even now, the basketball there is starting to get more attention. Especially now when we were able to make it out of the group all the way to quarterfinals. I think we did so far a good job and now the sport back home starts to be more recognized, more people know about it and hopefully, it’ll bring some new players for us in the future.”
