DeAndre Liggins’ agency condemns Panionios’ behavior and mistreatment of players

Former NBAer in DeAndre Liggins has been playing in Europe this season and his most recent destination was Panionios.

However, despite joining the squad on February 12, the player didn’t play an official game for the team yet and, according to his agency, the club might be at fault for that. And not only.

Official Statement by Flex Basketball Management:

We’re extremely disappointed of the treatment by Greek Club Panionios Basket to our player DeAndre Liggins. DeAndre has been with the club since February 12 with a signed contract until the end of the season, but the club failed to register him with the Greek Basketball Federation in order to play, despite practicing. The club was very misleading and did not pay him or agents, and did not cover flight expenses as agreed upon. They didn’t help him in his return flight due to the virus pandemic and league suspension, and didn’t help other players as well while ignoring all communication. We fully condemn this behavior and conduct. Their appalling mistreatment and lack of care for players warrants investigation by FIBA and the Greek A1 League.

On the other hand, Panionios issued a statement of its own on March 20 denying the allegations and explaining that all the talks about the issue were made with a local agent.
