The Greek Basketball Federation determined the 2019-20 rankings and initial 2020-21 playing fields for all tournaments under its jurisdiction on Friday.

The press release issued ranks Olympiacos sixth in the second-tier division, therefore the Reds are not among the top two teams promoted to the Basket League. Charilaos Trikoupis and Diagoras Dryopideon earned a spot in Greece’s top-flight division.

The Greek Basketball Federation additionally notes that in the event of teams not accepting their promotion, no replacement teams will be named.

In the aftermath of a turbulent 2018-19 season, Olympiacos was relegated to Greece’s second-tier division, namely A2. The Greek powerhouse went on to compete at the lower level domestically with a secondary team allowing the senior squad to solely focus on the 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season.

Similar to Europe’s premier club competition, the bottom end of all competitions in Greece, including the Basket League ran by HEBA, was canceled, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
