Grant bros lead Promitheas to big road win, Panathinaikos beats Aris

The two Grant brothers (Jerian and Jerai) of Promitheas Patras combined their forces to lead their team to an 82 – 75 road win over second-placed AEK Athens in the Greek League.

Jerian Grant scored a season-high 18 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists while his brother Jerai had also a season-best 15 points (6-8 shots) as Promitheas captured its second victory in a row.

Among Jerian’s highlights was the timeout he asked with 43 seconds to play and his team up by eight when he got doubled-teamed by AEK defenders. Apparently, he forgot that this isn’t the NBA (where he had 287 appearances before joining Promitheas) and that a player can’t call the timeout in Europe.

For AEK, Yanick Moreira posted 18 points and eight rebounds. Nikos Gkikas added 15 points.

Meanwhile, Panathinaikos grabbed a 93-75 road win over Aris with Dinos Mtoglou and Ben Bentil leading the way. He scored 15 points while Bentil logged 14 points and ten rebounds.

On the other side, Quenton DeCosey scored 22 followed by Mario Little with 12 and Diamantis Slaftsakis with 11 points.

This was the first win for Panathinaikos since Oded Kattash took over as head coach recently as they improve to a 9-1 record at the top of the standings.
