Ioannis Bourousis had announced earlier in the summer that he has retired from basketball after two decades of playing, however, the Greek center has changed his mind and decided to return to action.

The 37-year-old will suit up for his hometown team Karditsas, where he made his first basketball steps back in the early 2000s, at the age of 18. The club currently competes in the Greek Second Division and was placed eighth last season with a 10-10 record.

“Having great respect for the effort of the club of my particular homeland, in which I took my first steps in basketball, I feel the desire and the need to put myself at the disposal of the coach and to contribute with my experience to the championship of the A2 Division. Claiming to rise in the big halls of Greek basketball, is a dream of years for the sports community of Karditsa and the idea of saying goodbye in the newly built indoor gym of our city, moves me very much,” Bourousis wrote via Instagram.
