Olympiacos moves to Greek League semifinals

Olympiacos Piraeus routed Aris Thessaloniki 82 – 58 on the road to sweep the best-of-three quarterfinal series and become the first team to advance to the semifinals. The reigning champions will face the winner of the PAOK Thessaloniki – Promitheas Patras matchup in the next stage.

Sasha Vezenkov led all scorers with 19 points on 8-12 shots for Olympiacos, setting the tone early by scoring his team’s first eight points in an 8-0 run. Giorgos Bartzokas’ players took a 42 – 27 lead at halftime and, in a manner similar to Game 1, retained a large margin for the remainder of the game.

Giannoulis Larentzakis added 14 points, Kostas Sloukas had 11 points and six assists while Alec Peters dropped 10 points for Olympiacos. Vassilis Kavvadas (13 points), Chevez Goodwin (11 points) and Josh Haggins (10 points) scored in double figures for Aris.

Olympiacos will now be preparing for the EuroLeague playoff series vs. Fenerbahce Beko that begins Wednesday (24/4) in Piraeus. The Reds have secured homecourt advantage after finishing first in the regular season.
