Addressing the current situation at Olympiacos, head coach Giorgos Bartzokas explained how social media can ruin careers, despite the lack of substantive experience in a specific field.

“I’m not the one to judge. How I handle this at the personal or family level is only for myself to know. Or how unfeeling I have become over the years,” he shared his own approach to swirling rumors following a third-place finish of the Reds in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four 2025, during a media session in the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF, on Wednesday, “It affects me from very little to not at all.”

“I fully understand how the system works, how our society works. On social media, anyone lacking notable achievements in his life can easily and anonymously cancel careers, entire seasons, and extensive experiences. But that applies everywhere, not only in sports. Anybody can judge the other person,” added the 59-year-old Greek expert, “We can adjust to our era and move on.”

After the championship-crowning tournament of Europe’s premier club continental competition in Abu Dhabi, his side bounces back in a best-of-five Stoiximan GBL championship series opposite eternal rival Panathinaikos Aktor. Game 1 is set to be played in OAKA Altion on Friday.

At 20-2, the Reds ranked second in the 2024-25 Regular Season of Greece’s top tier, trailing the undefeated and defending champions. Therefore, they must overcome a homecourt advantage of Ergin Ataman’s side to capture a 15th domestic league championship in team history.
