Eight Panathinaikos players have tested positive for influenza A and the postponement of game against Maroussi, which was scheduled for Saturday (27/12), is now official. The match will be played on Tuesday (30/12) at 18:30.
Three staff members are also affected, and some of those infected are experiencing severe symptoms such as fever and congestion.
The virus is believed to have spread during the team’s flight from Kaunas to Athens, where all members were in close quarters. New cases may still emerge, as some infections have not yet developed symptoms.
Panathinaikos also looks ahead to a European derby against Olympiacos on Friday, January 2, which will close out the first half of the regular season.
