Dimitris Giannakopoulos receives a six-month ban and a heavy fine

The Sports Judge announced the penalties for Panathinaikos B.C. and Dimitris Giannakopoulos for incidents that occurred in Game 3 of the Finals, while the fourth match was underway.

The owner of Panathinaikos was penalized for repeated defamation of the sport with a (temporary) six-month ban from entering sports venues and was also fined 50,000 euros.

The same amount was imposed on Panathinaikos B.C.

It should be noted that Dimitris Giannakopoulos had been previously penalized with a one-month ban and a 30,000 euro fine from Game 1 of the Finals.

The announcement of the Sports Judge

“It is imposed on Dimitrios Giannakopoulos, owner of the PANATHINAIKOS ATHLETIC CLUB BASKETBALL JOINT STOCK COMPANY (trade name: PANATHINAIKOS B.C. AKTOR) for the disciplinary offense of an act that constitutes defamation of the sport, committed in relapse, during the Championship A1 National Category 2025-2026 match against OLYMPIAKOS SPORTS CLUB OF PIRAEUS BASKETBALL JOINT STOCK COMPANY (trade name: OLYMPIAKOS B.C.), held on 08.06.2026: a) a temporary ban from all venues for six (6) months and b) a monetary fine of fifty thousand (50,000.00) euros.

  1. It is imposed on the PANATHINAIKOS ATHLETIC CLUB BASKETBALL JOINT STOCK COMPANY (trade name: PANATHINAIKOS B.C. AKTOR) a monetary fine of fifty thousand (50,000.00) euros for the aforementioned act of its owner committed in relapse.”
