The 26-year-old Olympiacos forward admitted that his relations with Xavi Pascual are not just typically professional: “We have excellent relations both with him and his assistant, Inigo. Their work finally paid off.”
Papanikolaou reminisces of a little blooper that took place in the fifth final of the Greek championship: “I was in front of Panathinaikos’ bench, Pascual called out for me and asked me “What do we do now, coach? Do we keep on playing or would that be rude? I told him to just that.”
As for his “fight” with Singleton, Papanikolaou said it belongs to the past. “It was a mistake from my side. I’m not the kind of person that will try to hide. I recognized my mistake, I gave my hand to him and now I think everything’s okay.”
