Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos scolded the players of the team following their lackluster performance and subsequent loss to archrival Olympiacos in Game 1 of the Greek League Finals.

“You were eliminated by AEK in the Greek Cup, you were eliminated by what is considered the top team in Europe, Real Madrid. We didn’t say anything to you. However, it’s not possible to lose the [Greek League] title to the worst Olympiacos of the decade. Ιf you also manage that [losing the title], you should get up and leave, all of you,” Giannakopoulos told Panathinaikos’ players, Monday, (4/6) at OAKA arena.

Earlier today (4/6) Giannakopoulos announced his intention to fine the players of Panathinaikos with a sum equal to one month’s salary if they fail to win the title.

“It’s not possible that some of you finish the Final without committing even one foul. This shows a lot. Fat contracts and pay increase come after winning team titles, not personal records and individual distinctions. It’s not enough to register points, assists in the statistic. The team has to win titles,” Giannakopoulos also said.
