Trapani Shark is officially excluded from the Italian competition. As declared by the National Sports Judge, the team has been eliminated from the Italian league, in addition to paying a fine of 600k and the suspension of its president, Valerio Antonini, for the next three months.
This decision comes after two forfeits against Virtus Bologna and Aquila Trento. Trapani Shark only had 5 players on the roster in the Play-In BCL game against Hapoel Holon on Tuesday, 6. They ended up playing with only two players on the court, violating “sportsmanship” and the integrity of the competition.
In addition, they have been fined €600,000 and their president has been suspended for the next three months. Trapani Shark has been experiencing financial difficulties in recent months and is now suspended from the Italian league.
They were in 13th place in the Lega Basket with a 5-10 record, and had reached the BCL Play-In.
