Svetislav Pesic officially takes over the Serbian national team bench to replace Igor Kokoskov, the Federation announced Tuesday. The 72-year-old coach returns to the national team for the first time since his 2000-02 stint with FR Yugoslavia.

Pesic will lead the Serbian squad in the FIBA 2023 World Cup qualifiers window this November, as the team faces Latvia (November 25) and Belgium (November 28).

In his previous stint, Pesic helped the national team win gold at the 2001 FIBA EuroBasket and 2002 FIBA World Cup, while he has successfully led the U19 Yugoslavian NT to the gold medal at the 1987 World Cup in Italy.

Pesic last coached FC Barcelona between 2018 and 2020 before taking a break in the 2020-21 season.
