With Joel Embiid getting also a US passport, it was only a matter of time before Team USA came knocking.
Embiid can choose to play for Cameroon, France, or the USA, and so far there’s no official announcement from his side about his preference.
As veteran reporter Marc Stein tweeted “Sources tell me USA Basketball has a confirmed interest in recruiting Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid to the national team and hopes to beat out France for Embiid’s international commitment”.
It has to be noted that a number of French federation officials including French national team manager Boris Diaw have confirmed that they are in contact with Embiid and hope that he will play for them in the upcoming FIBA World Cup of 2023.
