Predrag Danilovic to become president of the Serbian Federation

As the Serbian Basketball Federation announced, Predrag Danilovic will be the sole candidate for the presidency in the elections that will take place on December 15 thus who will succeed Dragan Dilas in the post.

One of the countries’ many basketball legendary figures was the only one to submit his candidacy for the position  before today’s expiration of the related deadline.

Danilovic will join the club of Arvydas Sabonis (Lithuania), Stojan Vrankovic (Croatia), Jorge Garbajosa (Spain), Andrei Kirilenko (Russia) and Hedo Turkoglu (Turkey) as another former player who assumes presidency of his country’s basketball federation.

During his career, Danilovic had played for Partizan Belgrade, Virtus Bologna and the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. With the Serbian national team he has won the gold medal in the 1989, 1991, 1995 and 1997 Eurobasket tournaments. He has been a silver medalist in the 1996 Olympic Games and won bronze in the Eurobasket 1999.

On a club level he has been a European champion twice, with Partizan in 1992 and Virtus Bologna in 1998.
