Italy will try to “steal” Djordjevic from Serbia, Ataman in the mix

Messina has already taken his decision and the candidates to replace him are more than many. There’s the obvious choice of Italian Pino Sacripanti, who is Messina’s assistant.

According to “Gazzetta dello Sport” he Italian federation would also like to approach Fenerbahce’s Zeljko Obradovic, but with the EuroLeague probably not interrupting its season during the World Cup  qualifiers, the names of Bayern Munich’s Sasha Djordjevic – who is also currently the head coach of the Serbian national team – and Turk Ergin Ataman are on the forefront. Ataman is the only coach of the three who is currently a free agent.
