Russia will miss Karasev while competing in Turkey for the EuroBasket, as shortly before the start of the first gathering of the national team, Karasev injured his shoulder joint.

He was examined in Finland and got operated shortly after.

Karasev will undergo a recovery period under the supervision of the medical staff of Zenit. That being said, his injury will not allow him to help Russia this summer.

He competed at the 2009 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, won a silver medal at the 2010 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, and a bronze medal at the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. His first appearance with the senior team was during London’s Olympics.
