Boris Diaw reportedly close to retirement

It’s the first time in years (ten, to be exact) that Boris Diaw is not included in the French NT squad for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers and the rumors of his retirement have circled the press.

As reported by L’Equipe, Diaw hasn’t played or been to practice since July 2nd when France conquered Russia in Krasnodar, which could mean that the 2014 NBA champion is close to announcing his retirement. According to the same report, it is suggested that Diaw will not only retire from the National Team but from playing altogether.

Diaw, 36, has served as a team captain and mentor for France and holds 247 participation with the team, only 7 behind legendary Hervé Dubuisson, though it looks like he won’t be breaking this record afterall.
