NBA veteran Nicolas Batum spoke about Nando De Colo’s transfer to Fenerbahçe, admitting that the move caught him off guard.
The experienced Los Angeles Clippers forward spoke to Tom Compayrot for BeBasket, and said the transfer shows just how competitive De Colo still is.
“I was surprised by the transfer. I don’t know if he announced this as his retirement season, but it shows how hungry he is. He knew that what he wanted wouldn’t be possible at ASVEL,” Batum explained.
According to Batum, De Colo chose the path that gives him the best chance to win.
“He went to a team that can win a championship and to a club he already knows well. He even made sacrifices on a personal level — I noticed his family didn’t go with him to Istanbul. That shows how much he wants to win.”
Batum also emphasized how highly he rates De Colo in French basketball history.
“For me, he’s the second-best French player ever. If he ends his career the way he deserves, it will be a perfect finish,” Nicolas Batum concluded.
