“I still can’t get over this question”. David Blatt joked when he was asked about LeBron James.
He had just presented five things that every coach should do – “be an expert of the game, have his own philosophy, be a teacher, be yourself and be human” – and one of the coaches that attended the clinic asked him about the King.
He didn’t avoid the question: “He is the best player in the world, but like a said before he is also human. He is simple, works hard and respects everyone in the organization”.
For the first time he left the NBA back in 2016, Blatt also talked about the differences of the game between Europe and the States. “It’s a different game”, said the new coach of Olympiacos. “The length of the game is different, the speed is different, the rules are different. And also there are many other things around the game in the NBA, which are much bigger compared to the same things happening in Europe. However, with few exceptions in the NBA, the coach can’t be in total control of the organization, like in Europe. That’s also a big difference. Don’t ask me which is better. I always like to stay focused on now, or else you might miss something important”.
