A historic university is close to hiring another NBA coach. North Carolina, following Hubert Davis’ departure, is reportedly close to signing Mike Malone.
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets in the 2022/23 season and author of 510 wins in the best league in the world, could be close to the bench of the legendary ACC university.
After 5 seasons under Hubert Davis, the Tar Heels want a change of scenery to try to reach the level of a Duke team that gets away every season. Mike Malone, who left the Nuggets’ bench, has not coached since, and the NCAA seems like an increasingly attractive option for coaches with NBA experience.
After a year marked by Caleb Wilson’s injury, North Carolina wants to continue its positive momentum, considering that it could have Estonian center Henri Veesaar next year, in addition to the good talents that arrive at the iconic university.
