Team USA still planning for 2020 Olympics

While there is a possibility that the 2020 Olympic Games won’t launch on schedule in light of the coronavirus pandemic, Team USA is preparing to be fully ready for the tournament in Tokyo.

Golden State Warriors head coach and Team USA assistant Steve Kerr said that he and Gregg Popovich haven’t changed their own plans ahead of the Olympics.

“Pop and I have spoken a couple of times over the last week or so, and everything’s just up in the air,” Kerr said per multiple media. “There’s no sense of whether things are going to be delayed or anything.”

“We’re all kind of sitting here wondering what’s going to happen, and so is the rest of the world. We’re just going to plan as if this is going to happen, and we’re going to try and put together a roster, and that’s all we can do.”

Uncertainty doesn’t stem only from the fact that the Olympic Games may not begin according to the initial program but also from the inevitable delay of the 2019-2020 NBA season. It’s more than likely that the NBA playoffs will be running until the end of July or even early August. As of now, the NBA season has been suspended until further notice.
