Nicolo Melli will suit up for Italy this summer, he announced via an Instagram post on Friday.

“Second year in the NBA in the books. Now it’s time to reset, recharge and see finally my family. Next week the National Team starts and I can’t be more excited for the challenge ahead of us!” he wrote.

Melli, 30, missed the 2019 FIBA World Cup due to injury. He will be back for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament at Belgrade scheduled between June 29 and July 4. Host Serbia, alongside Dominican Republic, Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Senegal will be up for one Olympic Games berth.

The experienced big was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Dallas Mavericks last March. He put up 3.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per 2020-21 Regular Season contest between the two teams.
