Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo has committed to play for Team USA in the 2021 Olympic Games, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This will be Adebayo’s first-ever participation in an international tournament.

In 2019, Adebayo was cut from the Team USA squad that went to the World Cup. Some months later he was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career and was then named to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team, an achievement that he repeated this season.

In 2020-21, Adebayo averaged 18.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists in the regular season plus 15.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the playoffs.

Such players as Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal and Draymond Green have already committed to play in Tokyo.
