A couple of days after losing to LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in the opening week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Zalgiris Kaunas bounced back with a win on the road, 85-69, over Pieno Zvaigzdes.

Power forward Tyler Cavanaugh fired 14 points in Sunday’s LKL contest. Josh Nebo and Niels Giffey followed with 13 points each. Simas Jarumbauskas finished with 15 points for the hosts.

The defending LKL champions kept themselves at a safe distance after jumping to an early double-digit lead.

The team led by Austrian Martin Schiller still missing captain Paulius Jankunas jumped to 4-0 in the Lithuanian league. Lukas Lekavicius was also sidelined for the match at Pasvalys.

Juventus is the other undefeated team early in the 2021-22 season, sitting at 3-0 following Saturday’s 111-89 away win versus Rytas.

Coming up for Zalgiris, a home game versus Zenit Saint-Petersburg, part of Thursday’s EuroLeague Regular Season Round 2 schedule. Back at the domestic level, Neptunas at home jumps in next Sunday.
