The Israeli Winner League announced that the Finals between Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv (1-1 after two games) are canceled amid the war between Israel and Iran.

Neither team will be named champion due to the circumstances that led to the cancellation of the series, as it was expected.

Per the League, “Given the barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles landing on Israel these days and given the lack of possibility of obtaining approval from the authorities to hold the third and final game on a reasonable schedule that fits the end of the basketball season.”

The decision not to name a champion was taken after a unanimous agreement among members of the committee that included representatives of Hapoel and Maccabi. “The position of the committee is that the place where the Winner League championship should be on the court, with sports criteria. In the absence of a Game 3, which is needed to determine the championship team, the committee decides, not lightly, and in view of the current security situation, that no champion team will be declared.”
