Hapoel Tel Aviv has been at the center of the day’s biggest story. With a strike by Israeli players demanding better conditions, Itoudis’s team fielded only five players to face Bnei Herzliya.
In the game scheduled for 9 p.m. local time, Hapoel Tel Aviv only fielded Levi Randolph, Ish Wainright, Johnathan Motley, Vasilije Micic, and Tai Odiase.
The game ended when four of the five available players were ejected. Motley was the only one who remained unejected. The game was suspended at halftime with Herzliya leading 70-59.
A similar case occurred on Friday with Maccabi, whose five players played 40 minutes and managed to finish the game and win it 98-88. This was also due to the Israeli players’ strike demanding better conditions. Two surreal situations for Israel’s two biggest teams.
