Žalgiris is now just one victory away from lifting the Lithuanian championship trophy after a convincing performance in Game 2 of the LKL Finals. The Kaunas powerhouse controlled the contest from the opening tip and never allowed Juventus Utena to threaten.
After building an 11-point lead in the first quarter, Žalgiris continued to increase the margin throughout the game before cruising to a 100-69 victory on the road.
The defending champs now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five series and will have their first chance to clinch the title in front of their home fans on Friday.
Ąžuolas Tubelis once again led the way for Žalgiris, finishing with 20 points, six rebounds and a performance index rating of 30 in just 19 minutes. Moses Wright added 15 points, while Edgaras Ulanovas contributed 13 points and nine rebounds. Nigel Williams-Goss and Deividas Sirvydis chipped in with 10 points apiece.
For Juventus, Paulius Valinskas scored a team-high 17 points, while Maxwell Lewis added 16 points and five rebounds. Kenny Cherry finished with eight points, Šarūnas Beniušis had seven and Ivan Vraneš scored six in the losing effort.
