Crvena Zvezda parted ways with their head coach Dusan Alimpijevic this week as they appointed Milenko Topic as the new one. Despite the change on the bench Zvezda struggled to beat Borac Cacak at home 84-74 in Round 8 of the Serbian Superleague.

The visitors made a 10-2 run at the start of the game showing their intentions to beat Zvezda again as they did in the first leg. However, with 14 points by Dejan Davidovac in the first half Zvezda grabbed a small lead (40-38) after 20 minutes of play.

Borac refused the give up the fight in the second half as they were pushing Zvezda hard. With 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Zvezda was leading by 5 (65-60). The hosts made an 8-2 break to clear the air and seal the deal winning their sixth game in the Serbian Superleague.

Davidovac finished the game with 16 points while Ognjen Dobric added 17 points and 6 rebounds. Alen Omic was doing his job inside the paint registering a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Nemanja Todorovic had a game-high for Borac nailing 20 points and grabbing 6 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to crack Zvezda.

After 8 Rounds both teams are standing on a 6-2 record in the Serbian Superleague.
