The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVZS) announced today (28/5) that their member and former basketball player in Sarunas Marciulionis decided to reject the seat in the European Parliament for which he was elected.

Marciulionis noted that the European Parliament will primarily focus on the unity of the European Union and is in need of more experienced politicians while he would like to keep his focus on Lithuania and help young athletes as much as possible.

“During the election campaign, the projects launched by the LVZS team with young athletes and athletes completing their sports career are gaining momentum and have received great interest from sports federations. There are also educational institutions that will implement projects to promote the movement of children with special courses being set up. I think we will be able to use our good experience together with active European MEPs and famous athletes in the future”, Marciulionis said.
