ASVEL, Monaco move to French Cup quarterfinals

Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outfits LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and AS Monaco highlighted the French Cup Round of 16 action clinching a berth to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The team coached by T.J. Parker made it to the next round by defeating JAVCM, 90-70. Towering center Youssoupha Fall dominated en route for 17 points and seven rebounds. Chris Jones paired 14 points with seven assists. Dylan Osetkowski went for 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Marcos Knight had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Elie Okobo (shoulder), David Lighty (hand), Raymar Morgan (back), Antoine Diot, Victor Wembanyama, and Charles Kahudi were not available.

Sasa Obradovic’s Monaco moved to the next round with the 92-76 victory versus Le Mans. Brock Motum recorded a game-high 18 points and Donta Hall posted a 15-point, 16-rebound double-double. Paris Lee ended up with 14 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two steals to his name. Rudy Demahis-Ballou (hand) sat out along with Mike James, Donatas Motiejunas, Alpha Diallo, Will Thomas, and Rob Gray.

Elsewhere, BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque edged Saint Quentin, 111-105, in the third overtime to join the pack of teams in the quarterfinals. John Jenkins scored 39 points, including 9/15 from the three-point range.
