Pau Orthez announced that the club will remain in the top-tier French Jeep Elite League, one month after it was initially decided that they will be relegated to the amateur divisions due to financial reasons and a large deficit.
Thierry Braillard, a former secretary of State for Sports and current owner of the Eat4Good Group, bought the shares of Orthez and filed an appeal to the committee of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB). He presented his plan along with certain guarantees that the financial stability of the organization will be secured and the committee approved the appeal to rule Monday (25/7) that Orthez will stay in the First Division.
